Help!

I had two medical judgments that I recently paid off.  Can I send the HIPAA letter to them requesting that they take it off, since it is now paid? If so, which letter should I send?

I am working on trying to purchase a new home.  My LO told me to pay off everything except for medical bills because he is going to try to get me approved through FHA.  I have a few small medical bills on my credit report.  They are with a collection agency.  There are two for $83 a piece, 1 for $50 and 1 for $108. Because of the HIPAA law should I pay these which would then make them be deleted off of my credit report and thus raise my score?  Or is that not how it works?  Can't wait to hear from you.

Re: Help!

Paying and/or disputing these med collections might tank your scores. I hate to say this, but fixing your credit and applying for a loan don't mix. The results could be disastrous.

Re: Help!

Oh Man.  So I should probably just leave it alone until I get into my house?

Re: Help!

Yes, wait! I suppose you could refi your house once your scores improve, but I'm no mortgage expert. You might want to see what your options are and post your questions in the mortgage forum.
