Sorry, but I am totally confused.

We had inquired about a home loan and were told that we did not have enough debt and it was suggested that we apply for a CC or a small loan. After applying for a CC and being turned down, I got our three reports. There is a paid medical collection, date opened 11/03, that is showing as unpaid on EQ and TU. There is also a new medical collection, date opened 2/08. The new collection is a bill that was my former spouses responsibilty. Last summer a CA called me, looking for his contact info because he had stopped paying, which I gave to them, Now, it’s on my report. We can afford to PIF to get rid of it.

Other than the above collections, we have one store CC, which has only been past due once, 3/08. That’s it.

I opted out of CRA and have the creditor opt out letters ready to go. I understand that the Hippa process will fix the “unpaid” status on EQ and TU, but what are the other benefits? What else should we be doing?

My pre hippa 35 days are almost up and I have received nothing! Not a peep from CRAs or CAs. When I pulled my reports I saw everything was gone from EX! Yippee! Neither TU or EQ shows"disputed" or "verified". I am getting worried.

I had contacted my ex and read him the riot act about the new unpaid that showed up on my report. He has made payments on this debt ( he showed me that he had made the payments on his online bank statement) and now only owes 1/3 of the original amount. TU is showing one payment worth removed from my report.

And why did my scores go DOWN?

Congrats on the EX deletes, they're the toughest CRA when it comes to med collections. You have to wait the 35 days. If on day 36, there are deletions, or the collections are not properly marked as disputed and verified, make hard copies of your EQ and TU reports and  file FTC complaints against the both CRAs for not properly investigating your disputes and refusing to delete a med collection that has never been validated by the CA.
