A card that lets you pick bureaus?

I came up with this idea today when I was looking at my aging metrics, and I realized that if I added a new card, it would barely impact my age metrics on exprerian and TU because my oldest account helps negate the impact of the new account.

on equifax however, my oldest account isn't on there, so it would impact my age metrics a lot more.

so I came up with the idea for a card that lets you choose with bureaus the card reports to, at the time of application.

Is this something anyone would be interested in?

not sure how many people this would actually benefit

Re: A card that lets you pick bureaus?

I'm sure those with a lot of baddies would chose none, lol.

Why would the bank want to do that?

Actually, aven doesn't report to tu, I wonder what's up with that?

Re: A card that lets you pick bureaus?

I probably should have prefaced that if you default or end up with late payments it will automatically report to all 3. As hiding bad information wouldn't be beneficial to anyone except the consumer.

but, if you keep the account in good standing, you can choose which bureaus it reports to. It's just a silly idea I came up with.  You may be asking, why would someone want to keep an account in good standing off their report.

and the main reason is age Metrics. Again using my profile as an example, adding a new card to TU and experian would barely change age metrics.

but adding to equifax would cause a large change, so for me. Keeping it off equifax in order to keep my age metrics up, is more beneficial.

I was just thinking about it, my loan didn't report to 1 of the bureaus, and as you mentioned, some cards do the same as well.

so it just got me thinking about a card that lets you pick which bureaus it reports to.  (Again assuming the account is kept in good standing. As soon as late payment is introduced all bets are off)

Clients looking for money laundering crypto cards might want to avoid reporting an account and its use/payment history.

I don't know anything about that, I was just looking at it simply from a age metrics standpoint.

as I was thinking about applying for a new card, but thought to myself "it would be awesome if I could get the new card, without impacting my age metrics on equifax"

which lead to the fact that certain companies don't report to all 3, which lead to the silly idea.

since I already have five account paid as agreed on Equifax, which is more than enough the age metric staying the same is more important than adding another account paid as agreed when it comes to profile and score.

So in my situation, something like this would be beneficial. I just don't know how many people could actually benefit from something like that.

And again, this whole idea is dependent on the account remaining in good standing. I am not in favor of hiding bad information

Re: A card that lets you pick bureaus?

There's no way they would do this. This would let people hide their activity on other bureaus. Credit reports and scores exist for lenders, not for consumers.

Re: A card that lets you pick bureaus?

@crystal626

oh yea, from a realistic/practical standpoint. this would never happen, and i wasnt trying to imply that this should/would happen.

i just thought of the idea and got curious how many people would be interested in a card like this for one reason or another. since this community is big on getting the best possible scores, i assumed other people might also be intersted in a card that allows them to "get a new account, without impacting their age metrics on 1/2 of the bureaus"

again this wouldnt happen as it would allow people to game applications, etc. but im sure people would be interested in a card like that regardless of the real world application.

maybe you are planning an application and you know the lender is going to pull Experian, so you would be interested in card that doesnt hurt your AAOA, AOYA, 5/24 status, etc on experian. but you would be fine with the card impacting these metrics on equifax and TU, since the lender wouldnt pull these bureaus.

again real world application, this wouldnt happen as it would allow people to game applications etc, but its still a fun idea and i was curious if anyone would be interested in something like that.

Picking a bank that is known to favor or only use your best bureau is a thing, but telling the bank who to pull isn't.
