Just recently PC'd my Blue Cash into the Magnet and received it this weekend. I had been reading here on the boards how much people are loving the design and I was thinking "It's a card, it can't be that great"... ![]()
But I do love it. It is, afterall, just a card. But I think the design is great. (I'm a design junkie).
What I really like is the use of color and texture and the clean contrast of the not-quite-white text and print on the Amex blue background.
It's still classic Amex with subtle patterns, but modern with the big Centurion figure bleeding off the card edge.
So.....AMEX Rat Team, we know you're here. Tell your brothers and sisters over in Product Management, "Bravo" on the new product. Also, whomever designed the Magnent card, PLEASE, PLEASE let them take on the PRG and Green Card. They need this moderization too.
I see a pattern in the charge cards in that they all have the 3 sided classic Amex filigree border with an open bottom and the oval Centurion placed somewhere in the design, where all the credit cards have designs that bleed off the edge. Interesting. Maybe it's time the whole line of Charge cards receives more modern design language.
I am sure the "Rat Team" was on this 5 minutes after you posted. "Hey boss, someone on the internet thinks its time for us to do a redisign on our cards." ![]()
+1 LOL!
I also really like the card design but I still like the legacy designs of the charge cards. I would like for AMEX to keep the charge cards as-is but redesign all of their revolvers with this new modern touch they got going on with the magnet; that way we can have the best of both worlds.
I do think they are going through a brand refresh and are aiming to change the design of their cards to appeal to younger audiences so sadly I think it's only a matter of time before the charge cards cross over to the Magnet side (not necessarily a bad thing if they do it right).
Enjoy your card! I love mine ![]()

The charge card designs may lack modernity, but they have also achieved widespread recognition in much of the world. CSP/CSR may currently be the popular cards for Americans, especially millenials, but they are still a pretty recent arrival.
I wonder how popular the Magnet will be once people have spent the $7,500. A great design doesn't do much for Amex if people only take it out of ther wallets to look at it. Or will Amex make 1.5% acceptable again in 2018?

I'm not sure if the sarcasm is a dig, or comical..... jury is still out. ![]()
Regardless, I don't think RAT gives a rat's %&$ but I've tried contacting Amex and there is no channel to provide feedback like that.
Didnt think this thread would garner any discussion...so thanks for joining in on the convo.
I love the design as well. I'm a design junkie too, my ugly cards seems to get the most use, though! haha

When I got this card, it reminded me of the American Express optima card back in the 90s. https://goo.gl/images/HNUFWz
Yep, I can see the similarity there as well. ![]()
The Optima was/is a cool looking card... it's actually too bad they didn't keep the design for the Blue cards. ![]()
