With the cost of everything rising, I was curious if anyone has felt a big impact on their wallet because of gas prices. here, the cheapest gas is now just under $3.60, & i have seen it up to about $3.89. Diesel, amazingly enough, we saw today was $4.09. i was reading an article saying it'll be shocking if we don't hit $5/gallon before memorial day.
It hasn't really had a major impact yet. Since my wife and I are both retired we don't have to drive back and forth to work now and that makes a big difference.

I have to go with yes.
It was a deciding factor in the apartment complex I just decided to move to. The rent is $150 more/month but my commute goes from 17 miles/day to a 1/2mi bike ride.
I'll save a bundle in gas and get to live on my own again. Good riddance to my brother.
The last time I got gas, over a month ago, it was $3.45 a gallon. I had only intended to get $30 worth of gas but this pump was too fast. I ran in to get something and by the time I got back out, the pump had stopped. It was $60. It has never cost that much to fill my tank before.
Right now the tank is below a 1/4 of a tank and I refuse to buy anymore. It is $3.70 or up.
I officially retired 1 Apr but haven't worked since 21 Jan. I don't go many places so the need for gas is less. When I absolutely have to get gas, I will get just what I need.
Even though I have a 6 cylinder, the car gets very good gas milage.
I drive mainly for business and I can write off that expense so the cost never bothered me plus I have great gas mileage on my Saturn. On the other hand, DW drives a 2003 Chrysler T&C and that thing guzzles 15-16 miles to the gallon. We typically had to fill up every 6 days because of the commute to and from the kiddos' school in city traffic (up to 1.5-2 hours per day when you factor in round trip x 2 different dismissal times). We officially moved to a new place last month and that's 2 blocks away from the school. She cut her gas consumption by over half and we only need to fill up 2x per month. I estimate the saving at over $140/mo using current gas prices.
Absolutely. Northern California, I fill up every week. Last week it was $52. plus change to fill up Gretta the Jetta. Also drive it for work, which I do get reimbursed for. Heard on the News most expensive gas was in San Francisco...the average there was $4.13. Paid more than that last week.
Yes, its affecting me. The prices of healthy foods have gone up even higher. I would hate to start eating processed foods to offset funds inorder to pay for higher gas prices. I can't help but to wonder how those with families are making it in this economy. When it get hot, we'll have high utility bills too. To me, the 2009 economy is starting all over again.
The average price of gas in Honolulu County for the cheapest grade of unleaded is about $4.33. The average price for the same grade on Maui is $4.79 a gallon. So, yes, gas prices are going to have an impact on all of us here in the islands. The price of all goods is going up.![]()
ouch, everyone! & double ouch, fused! i can't imagine how much more the prices of other things are rising for you.
we are not excited about the gas prices, who is! but we already cut out most of the "extra" driving that we used to do, so there's not much to cut back on. luckily school will be out soon, so then we won't have to drive across town every day. that will be nice! no summer driving vacations for us.
Being retired, a tank of gas will last me about two weeks. What hurts is my trucks 10 mpg, ( but it's paid for ). I live in So Cal, and at my station, reg gas is now $4.20 a gallon and diesel is at $4.60. They say it will hit $5 by summer.
