Bunnies make great pets

My son wanted his very own first pet.  We contemplated the usual hamster/gerbil thing, but then I remembered my aunt had a bunny that was litter box trained.  We  found a "lionhead" rabbit whose mane didn't come in all the way - and one of his ears lops down while the other stands up, from a breeder who sold him to us cheap due to these defects.   Though the breeders kept him in their house as he grew up to keep him from being hurt by the other bunnies.

He came home and was named "Floppy Charley."  This thing is 100% potty trained - we let him out when we are home and he goes back to the cage to use his litterbox or to get away from the dog.  He hops up on our laps and loves to be petted and loved.  He is the sweetest little thing with a huge personality.  Sometimes when he's mad he will bang his back feet on the floor really loudly - amazingly strong for a dwarf rabbit.

Bunnies make wonderful pets and they don't stink, easy to clean up after, easy to potty train, and fun.  Just get one that is young so you can hand raise, and put the "litter box" in the corner of the cage.  (I say this after having him for a month now...so it's not like we just got him and I'm on the new pet high).  Strongly recommend if you want a stepdown from a dog - and a step up from fish.

Wow !  I had no idea that bunnies could be potty trained.    Does Floppy Charley like to chew on stuff ?    I had a bunny a loooong time ago and he chewed on everything....even gnawed through power cords from lamps....

LOL...mine have chewed through carpet, video game cords, sheets, blankets, etc....that's what i get for leaving that stuff around!  pesky bunnies.

Why, YES, Pizzadude, Floppy Charley LOVES to chew on things, especially my brand new beautiful shag carpet.  This is why Floppy no longer gets free roam of the house, but does have a beautiful outside area he can enjoy while not in his cage.  -  I think he was too shy to chew stuff when I made the first post.

Oh yes, my cell phone charger chord was conveniently spliced right in two.  It was either a knife or sharp rabbit-like teeth.  What a mystery.  Good thing I was able to get one for ONE PENNY on the internet.  And the shipping was only 2.88.  (TIP:  Don't by cell phone accessories from the cell phone companies - get 'em online for next to nothing).

ETA:  We don't even have to worry about rabbit droppings that seem to come out by accident.  (Still no urine anywhere but the litter box).  My pug LOVES to eat the little round balls.  she even digs at the outside area trying to reach for the ones in there.  My pug is the most disgusting creature on earth.  She knocks the hamper over to get out the dirty underwear, and can gnaw on those for hours.  OMG ITS SO GROOOSSS!!  The poop is one thing, but the underwear is a completely different story.
