Cable and TV

I put an antenna in the attic, ran the coax to a splitter and two different TVs. I'm probably 15 miles from the transmitters. Get like 28 channels. Bonus, broadcast TV is all hd. Also, I'm several seconds ahead of internet streams.

I think I got the antenna at Walmart. The better antennas are larger, not more expensive. High price units are powered, they plug into wall outlet. Unless you want to split the signal to more than two TVs, the powered doesn't help, just harder to install.

You can get a single larger antenna and use a cable splitter to share across multiple TVs, but you'll have to run cable through the house to get to every TV and unless you live in an area of fringe reception using an indoor desktop-grade antenna placed at each TV should work fine.  FYI when it comes to antennas "Digital TV" is a marketing term and don't fall for the fallacy that more expensive == guarantee of better performance. Depending upon your specific circumstance a model that includes a preamplifier aka "signal booster" may however help with reception.

Get yourself a Channel Master ULTRAtenna 60. 100 bucks. Install it yourself and you're golden. I am 60+ miles from my large metro area towers, split the signal to three TVs, and get about 30 channels crystal clear, all digital & HD. The only channel I will ever pay for is ESPN and I am looking forward to Disney+ adding it. I already get $7 off of my subscription each month through AmEx so I'll pony up a few more bucks in December and January to get ESPN.

I forgot to mention, you need to check that your tv has a broadcast tuner. Otherwise you need to get a separate tuner. The only one I've seen that lacks the tuner is visio.

Another thing. If you live in a fring area, >50 miles from transmitter, a larger antenna, mounted higher up, is the solution. A preamp boosts the noise along with the signal. A preamp is called for it the antenna is a long way from the tv, or multiple tvs.

Thank you ALL for the suggestions and advice .

i ordered an indoor antenna but hasn't come yet , so I went to Walmart and got a cheap one for the bedroom b/c I can't miss my football and Eagles in today lol.

after playing around trying to find the best signal got it to work , I honestly wanted to hit my dh on the head with it during this process but reframed 😂  I was able to catch games it get scrambled a bit at times but works good enough for now .

i may just cancel sling and just have Netflix and our prime video and peacock and then the indoor antenna.

Dropping off the cable boxes yesterday was pure joy .

Now for just internet is 90.00 bucks a month for 1000 mbps but as others have suggested I may drop the speed as we don't need that much at all .

However cutting that soon to be 250.00 cable:internet bill feels great .

Next up my Verizon cell phone 85.00 a month and they can't go any better , looking at mint or boost mobile or hell even consumer cellular just need to keep my phone number as that was hell last Time with all my banking apps tied to cell number 😳

Look at visible if want to be on VZ network owned by VZ but much cheaper.  Just prepay your phone and do prepaid that is where the savings are imho and near the same service.  I am still dumb though as work for all the big mobile providers yet pay 100/mo for cell phone think I would know better :/.  Work phone is on VZ and that is free might just shut my person phone off and use work Iphone otherwise it just sits off

When can I schedule you for an in home visit? Did not realize my Visio (2010 model and works very well) needed a Tuner ... !

Live 70 miles from transmitters with lots of elevation. Bought a free air $14 antenna in Walmart and it brought in seven channels (they were for the birds). Previously, bought a free air antenna from Target for $20 to $40 and it brought in about the same seven yuck channels.

Believe living around mine dumps and large pits plus 80 foot tall trees has made free air TV for my geography more of a challenge. Actually, virtually non-existent.

My family in a major flat geographic metro area gets at least 28 free air channels and loves it (bought the same antennas) what to say.
