Are there any cards that discontinued that you missed out on? I remember when these all came out and I kept putting it off. Now I don't put it off.
citi forward
citi dividend (some members still have this)
barclays sally mae
barclays ring(seen in some siggies, so maybe grandfathered in)
does anyone remember these cards? Did you have them? Like or dislike them?

You have hit at least two of the biggies I lament not getting. Sallie Mae Rewards with 5% gas and groceries (up to $500 spend, each, per month), and citi Dividend Platinum Select with 5% rotating cats.
Also, the BoA Better Balance Rewards - make a small purchase once per month, pay in full, and collect a free $100 - $120 per year!
Had two of the Sallie Mae cards
Usually capped the $1,000 a month @ 5%
It was a nice card.
For a few years it was missed, a lot.
Today there are a few new cards that can replace what it did.
Not hard to get 5% gas and grocery.
I see a lot of newer cash rewards cards over the last year or two.
Not a bad time to be going for cash rewards.
I remember Barclays Ring, although I never had one myself. I can't think of a card that I missed out on applying for specifically, but I do hold a couple of grandfathered cards that have been discontinued. Chase Freedom and Discover More (both revolving 5%) and I plan to keep them as long as they still exist. I also had a Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite that got auto-transferred to Mercury World Elite, although I kept my account age and all the same perks/benefits with the new card, so I guess I'm fine with that.

Sallie Mae was actually only a mediocre card for me. I had it for about 2.5 years.
In that time I had some Amex grocery-focused cards (PRG, BCE, EDP) and moderate gas spend but only limited bookstore (Amazon) spend. Factor in Freedom and Discover, and the marginal rewards were actually pretty limited.
It would have been more lucrative to just bonus chase something for a ~$500 SUB.
Let's say I had $400 of eligible spend per month ($250 supermarket, $150 of gas/Amazon)
~$400 * ~30 months = ~$12k.
Now let's say another card could have given me, on average, 3% on that spend...
$12k * (5% in rewards - 3% from other cards) = $240
And add I think a $25 first use SUB for ~$265
...not that much compared to $500+ travel SUBs.
I had a Citi Forward from pretty much the first day until the last day that it was in existence. It was one of my favorite rewards programs: 5 TYP on dining, movies, and book stores (Amazon coded as a book store). It was very lucrative when combined with the pre-nerf Prestige card which had the "flight points" redemption program, as well as Admirals Club access and the ability to book American Airlines tickets with each TYP worth 1.6 cents. Those were the golden days.
I still have one Citi Dividend card. I once had 2 of them at the same time, but closed one after it didn't get much use.

I PC'ed my Citi DoubleCash into a Citi Dividend, right before they closed it off to new applications.
Some years, it fills in a quarter nicely for my spend. Other years, its mostly sock-drawered, and I have to pull it out for a swipe so it doesn't get shut down. The minimum redemption of $50 doesn't help, either. Sometimes I toy with the thought of PC'ing it to a Custom Cash for a straight grocery card. But than I wonder if they will axe or change the rules on the Custom Cash.
I suspect that Citi will eventually PC everyone out. But I could be wrong.

In truth, any Financial may change the line-up! You can not know. Citi has been good at keeping many older cards after they are closed for new apps. Actally, Barclays is too .. look at the Ring or Chase and their herd?! In my case I pc'd from the Citi Dividend WE MC to the Citi Custom Cash WE MC (note, I lost my revolving account in the Citi p/c but, CL stayed the same)..
