I haven't bought anything from GameStop in at least 5 years. In fact, the last time I tried, I was using their PC app, and the program was so badly designed that my bank (BoA) thought a fraud attempt was going on after I made several unsuccessful attempts to make the purchase and locked my debit card, forcing me to get a new one.
Even if that hadn't happened, I'm a PC gamer, not a console gamer, and buying actual boxed PC games as opposed to download is virtually dead these days, and even where it isn't is often more expensive than download. People have their complaints about Steam, which overwhelmingly dominates this market, but it has its good points like its sales; I got Hearts of Iron IV for $23.99 (40% off) this past weekend.
The writting was on the wall for brick and mortar stores when Steam showed up. Those of you who are old enough may remeber all the issues with CD and DVD copy protection and games and it finally going away by being able to download your game.
Speaking of GameStop, I was there yesterday looking for a Nintendo Switch and the service was horrible, many people there and the sales guy was just fiddling with reciepts or something completely ignoring people.![]()
