Hi!
Please move to appropriate section if this is not supposed to be here. Thanks in advance!
I have an international trip planned and since I get a statement credit with venture X, I applied for Global Entry earlier yesterday but may have made a mistake in the employment section.
I was in undergrad between Jan 17 - May 21, then from May 21 to Oct 21 I was employed and then from Oct 21 - Apr 22 I was employed. Then in April I quit my job to study for the LSAT; so I claimed Student as my current status since Apr 22.
I have money saved up from working for a year and I live with my parents and they support me at the moment. I've just really been studying 6 hrs a day for the past 6-7 months.
Ive signed up and completed accredited LSAT prep courses online (I can provide receipts) since leaving my job in April and plan on taking the lsat in April 23' and applying to law school in the fall of 2023.
Is this going to be an issue? I was told by my parents that I should’ve said I’m unemployed.
Please advice! Thanks
I think what your parents said is correct. You are currently "unemployed", not a "student". When you go to an interview, if an interviewer asks questions about this, just say you made a mistake because you got confused and then give an honest answer. I don't think it's a big deal. BTW, during an interview, they run background checks.
IMO, it shouldn't be an issue. CBP are mostly concerned with arrests, warrants, or on-going investigations. Things that would signal you would be a possible risk for terrorism, or cause mayhem on flights.
During your in-person interview, the officer will go over your responses so you can address it.
Thank you for your response, @tkshk. My parents are worried that my background check will not support my "student" claim. They are concerned that it would be an issue for the conditional approval.
If they were to question me on it, the honest answer is that I thought studying for a formal exam would encompass the definition of "student" and that it was a momentary lapse in clarity. It honestly was a simple mistake.
Thank you for your response, @Gunnerboy. Fortunately, no arrests, warrants or ongoing investigations.
My parents are anxious and extremely worried that I would be denied a conditional approval or global entry itself as a result which in turn has made me anxious. I hope it's doesn't become an issue.

Remind them (and thus yourself!) that as a worse case this is pretty benign! GE can speed entry along, but is far from essential, I would guess most people travelling internationally don't have it (judging by how uncrowded the terminals usually are). So a) it should be ok and b) if it gets denied you are no worse off than before (well, the app fee). In general, providing you are not showing bad things on background (25 years proud service as a covert GRU agent for example) they actually want you to be in the program.
Going to a green card interview with "errors" on your form would be a much bigger concern, for example.
Hahaha thanks @Anonymous! That actually made me feel better plus app fee is covered by venture x. Hopefully the conditional approval comes through w/o an issue and I can explain it to the officer at interview (if it even comes up from everything I've read up on so far).
Just trying to travel a bit before I start law school and lock-in for the next 3yrs. It's definitely not the end of the world
Update: received conditional approval last night and was able to schedule an interview this morning and was fully approved.
Thanks to everyone for all of your responses!
