So...I got the card back in October 2014, and have never used it. Figured since I was approaching a year without ever using it, and having 2 CLI's on the card, I better use it.
Called carecredit to make sure I was good to go..no issues. Called Lens Crefters to make sure they took the card like it said on Care Credits site...manager said YES!
So, over the hill and thru the woods to Lenscrafters I go..decided to put a small charge today on the card just to show use, so I bought a box of cleaning wipes for my glasses.
Handed the lady my card, she swipes it, and nothing happens. She looks at it, and says...." what kind of card is this"? Im like..."what do you mean what kind of card is this? Its "carecredit- healthcare card", you guys accept this card here.
She swipes again, nothing happens. She says, want to use a different card, its not taking this one. I say NO, I DONT want to use a different card, this card is open and fine to use, maybe you should call over your manager.
Manager comes over, lady explains register isnt taking the "swipe". Manager says..."well just manually enter the number"...(Im thinking NO sh** sherlock)...so lady manually enter my card number, and what do you know...the purchase went right thru!! THEN....she breaks out the old CC carbon copy machine....Thats when things got ugly...
I said..."hold it right there!".."what are you doing"?....she says, "whenever we have to manually input the CC, we have to make a carbon copy of it"....At this point, I could feel my Carotids bulging on the side of my neck...I responded with..."hand me card NOW. YOu will NOT make a carbon copy of my card, to keep on recored here at your store. " She calls over her manager again...She says, " its ok, we write void on the ticket"... I said, "you wont be writing anything, because Im NOT giving you permission to make a copy of it!!" AND FYI, writing "void" on the ticket doesnt stop fraud from happening if that ticket got into the wrong set of hands. My FULL CC # is on that ticket!!"
So,more long story short, its their policy, which I refused, and they had to note that I refused carbon copy on my acct if their store got audited by corporate, they could get in trouble. I told them, thats not my problem, got my wipres, and left!!
Really!??? REALLY??!! grrrrrr
