I logged on to handle some of my Amex accounts. Noticed that my Amex HH Surpass card has a new look.
Account numbers might be located on the back of the card. Color is darker than original, with"American Express" spelled out on the short side of the card.
Looks more tempting to use than the original...
.
no longer embossed, that is the big one, that is a nice upgrade in looks.
I have the Hilton Honors Surpass card. Looks like my AF will be going up (was just charged the $95, will be $150 next year). Also, looks like this version is losing the Priority Pass membership benefit, and gaining a National Car Rental membership. Also new, a quarterly credit of $50 when you stay/spend at Hilton which would take care of the AF. I'm sure there is other changes I've missed. I haven't had any direct communication on these changes yet, just followed FireMedic's post link.
I saw that as well. It looks like it is metal also based on the etching of the box around American Express, whereas the tiers below have American Express in a blue box.

@swankytigerIMO, no card from a major lender should be embossed these days. As for the new appearance overall, outside of not being embossed I think the Surpass and Aspire are pretty ugly. I don't like that base tone of blue (the base color is similar to that of VX and I'm not crazy about that tone either, I wish it more of a royal blue).
