No Cash next year?

I keep emergency cash in my wallet, car, and home. But I use cards for everything. I love paying with my phone lol comes in so handy sometimes. I like this idea. I think i'll do it too. 100% card for 2020.

My wallet as of today:

• 3 credit cards from 3 different banks (and 3 different credit card networks):
  • VISA: Chase Sapphire Reserve
  • Mastercard: Citi Double Cash
  • Discover: Discover it
• $100 (five $20 bills)
• Driver’s license

What more do you need?

I use the cards for 99% of purchases. I wouldn’t go without cash in wallet.

My local Kroger's card system went down on Christmas Eve, just before they closed. It went down for an hour or two, just enough for people to walk out without groceries because they did not carry cash on them.

Kroger was ill-prepared. The paper slip still works where they can have them entered later or online. They lost revenue because of a lack of a backup system. If the electricity went out, there is no cash registers either. I played golf last fall and their card system went down. I was able to play and buy food at the pub using the paper slip system.
