cashiers who dont know simple math and have to ask the manager, how much change to give back.....LOL

I dont mean to offend you in anyway, but I dont think its fair to disparage cashiers beacuse it's a very tiring job (which gives rise to nervousness). We employ this college kid who does complex calculus solutions right in his mind (some complex arithmatics too), but somehow his personality changes altogether when he works a shift :-(. I once had to work as a cashier too cuz not enough cashiers were on call and I had just gotten off doing accounts, and I simply forgot all math when a purdy high school gal came in to buy something Smiley Very Happy

I have a degree in math, been a computer programmer for over 30 years but have trouble doing math in my head.  Many fast food places have icons on the cash register for the thing you are buying.  HEB scans the item to get the price as most supermarkets and retail places do.

Re: Pet Peeve thread

I truly apologize, if I offened anyone. I was a floating cashier in my last job, so i understand how very hard the job can be.

I try to be friendly, respectful and supportive here on the boards. But I guess I should've worded my post differently, about what happened.

People who drive along, fat, dumb, and happy, with their turn signals on.

blink * * blink * * blink * * blink * * blink

mile after mile after mile after mile...

Note: "fat, dumb, and happy" is a Southern expression that is not meant to refer to body size, intellectual ability, or emotional state. Smiley Very Happy It basically means doing something in a state of oblivion.
