I just logged into my Southwest account, and was very surprised to see that my account is showing:
As well as:
Two things are strange about this.
First, why are the CP flight numbers and points so vastly higher than the A-list ones, when they are both supposed to be measured during 1 calendar year?
And second, I have only flown 2 revenue flight segments this calendar year, and I do not have a Southwest credit card! And the flights were only worth ~2,700 points each!! How the heck do I have so many tier-qualifying flights and points?!?
Even if they included all of 2019 and 2020 in that calculation, it still doesn't even come close to reality. I flew on Southwest maybe 2 or 3 times, at the most, in 2019. And one of those wasn't even a revenue flight, it was booked with points (that I transferred from Chase UR).
I'm very confused. Delighted, but confused. How in the world did I get so many tier qualifying flights and points when I have done almost no activity with Southwest in the last 2 years? Was there some sort of promo that I'm not aware of? A google search turned up nothing.
So how in the world am I so far into earning status with Southwest? Can anyone clue me in?
I just stumbled across the answer to my question:
"We are making it easier for Rapid Rewards Members to earn tier status and Companion Pass this year by giving everyone 15,000 tier qualifying points (TQPs), 10 qualifying one-way flight segments toward tier status, 25,000 Companion Pass qualifying points (CPQPs), and 25 qualifying one-way flight segments toward Companion Pass."
