Your such a loser for getting credit cards for rewards! ![]()
Congratulating people on their new cards and their rebuilding sucess is part of this boards mandate to be respectful and supportive of fellow members. This topic seems to pop up every 90 days or so, OP if you dont wish to congratulate anyone then you are free to not do so, we are not here to judge anyone for what they do though it may be human nature to do so and the bulk of people on this board are not buidling debt but credit as already stated in this thread. Have a great evening all ![]()
I guess I must be in serious credit card debt if I consistently keep my overall utilization 10% or less every month and rarely ever have a balance be over 30% of the credit limit on any card at any given time and on higher interest cards I have try to PIF or pay a siginificant portion of the balance each month. I don't see any harm in congratulating someone on getting a card as well as closing 3 accounts and getting 2 way better ones as of recently. I do so every so often and especially to people who have gotten similar cards as the ones I have right now.

Ok ok. But there ARE some posters that "congrats" is all they ever post. Never engaging in conversations or offering help or advice. And sometimes that DOES get a lil annoying. IJS.
I think some (not all) of these repetitive "congrats" posters are just trying to increase their overall number of POSTS, in an effort to achieve higher MEMBER RANKINGS.
Just my opinion . . . !

agreed.. i hate going on here and seeing a poster that has never posted anything other than congrats yet joined 3 months ago, and has 3000 posts, i feel like I earned most of my 1400+ posts. didn't just phone it in and say "congrats"

Yup that does get pretty annoying at times.

Going through 3000 posts saying Congrats 3,000 times to do 24,000 Keystokes takes a lot of time to do !!

Secondly, people get cards because he or she is trying to meet immediate needs. The kids need clothes, there has to be food on the table, or the rent payment has to be paid.
However, we, on this site, continue to say CONGRATULATIONS.
Why? We congratulate people for increasing debt. That makes no sense.
The questions should be, why do you need this card; what is your repayment plan; and how much money can you afford toward yet another debt obligation.
50 percent of the posts here simply say "Congrats", just think before you post, and may ask some questions.
after reading the full thread, I came up with an idea to solve this problem, simple set the credit card approval forum to the same status as "Smorgasboard" forum, so posts won't be counted in post count, users will still be free to post "congrats," but we get to see how many people keep posting without the post credit to increase there "ranking"
I try to always add a little flair along with my Congrats! in the CC Approvals Forum. When folks, especially new members who are fresh out of the gate in this credit journey as well as those finally picking up the pieces from near credit disaster are able to secure credit (again), it's an emotional exciting moments where you almost can't hold yourself from being estatic and relieved at the same time. I think some Congrats!, even a single one, goes a long way into helping them feel like they belong to something really special
And after all, this forum and it's members & officiating team ARE PRETTY SPECIAL! ![]()
