Top Loader or Front Loader (and stackable)

Re: Stacking or side by side?

Consumer Reports likes a front loading (stackable) Frigidare -- a best buy at only 650.  That sounds about right price-wise.  Some of the user reviews aren't so good -- but they're also from people who claim to have had the machine for 2+ years.  I would think that this is a newer model in the same line of washers.  Who knows.

Thanks for all of the input!  Keep it coming!

Re: Stacking or side by side?

I totally want a front-loader when we upgrade, but remember,  you can't open it to throw something else in once it has started!!

Re: Stacking or side by side?

I like the looks of a frontloader, and the ability to put counter over it...but my back likes the top loading.  Back wins.

Side by side.  More options and you can replace one at a time in case it dies.  Front loading also.

Would you be able to < whisper > the model name without waking up the jinx? Smiley Wink

Re: Stacking or side by side?

I edited the title of the orig thread to something a little more specific.

I will definitely have two separate units.  I am trying to decide if a front-loader is what I want, and what luck people have had while stacking them.  (If you haven't looked at w/d in a few years they sell them so the washer is placed below the dryer.)

One reason I'm considering this is because I'd like to use the extra space for a utility sink.

Again, I appreciate the responses -- keep 'em coming!

Also, for those of you use wash comforters in front-loaders, how big is the capacity?  I'm looking at 3.7-4.0.  Thanks!

Re: Stacking or side by side?

I won't even whisper it, but they've recently upped my $250 CL to $350 and their charge card is accepted at Lands End and K-Mart.

Gotcha! My own personal card from Heck. Good thing I've got that $1,212 CL working in my favor. Smiley Very Happy
