I do 2 things.
I'm a photographer but I don't want to do that as my living because I don't want to photograph babies in buckets or weddings. So I have no more than 5 commercial shoots a year and spend more time shooting projects that I show in galleries. Possibly looking at doing art shows and festivals in the future when the kidlet is older.
My full time job is project managing the tenant build outs of small box retailers, specifically the franchise stores that work under a certain mobility company. In a nutshell, I build and remodel cell phone stores according to the design standard of the time. I've only been doing this for about 6 months. Before that, I was a freelance bookkeeper for 7 years. Around the time I started having repetitive motion issues with one of my hands a client offered me a full time job doing what I'm doing now.
I'm also considering going back to school for archaeology or historic preservation. But I'm a single mom paying back my original student loans and saving for my son's college education, so we'll see.
