CONSOLIDATED LOANS ON CR

I consolidated my loans a few years back, but have been unsuccessful in having Sallie Mae or the Credit Bureaus, remove the 16 loans that were consolidated.  So I have 18 student loan accounts on my credit report.  Two of which are active, up-to-date.  Sixteen display sold/transferred with zero balances.

Are all these open accounts lowering my credit score?

If so, is there anyway to get them removed?

I've contacted Sallie Mae several times about it with no luck!

Re: CONSOLIDATED LOANS ON CR

They're reporting exactly as they should.

And, more than likely, they're helping your FICO score oodles since they contribute to your credit history and age of accounts. I'd not touch them with a ten-foot pole -- if you do, you'll more than likely get a severe ding for those lovely, paid off accounts.
