Credit score drop after remarks removed

I recently graduated from Dental school in 2017 and did my residency in 2018 during which my student loan was in forbearance. Since July 2018 I started paying “pay as you earn”. It was around $135 and now after the 12 month period was up they updated that to $250.
My account was put in “administrative forbearance” for the month of August. However my credit score dropped 85 points and it stated “remarks removed”.
I have no idea what happend. I was in 750s and now in 660s. It took me atleast a year to bring up my scores from 550 to 750 and then this?
Need to know if someone else faced this situation? And how were they able to bring it up? Please help.
Thank you

Re: Credit score drop after remarks removed

Hello,
It's more of a credit score issue than a student loan issue, so not my area. But I do know that the remarks don't count for anything. Getting it removed shouldn't affect anything and moving from the brief Administrative Forbearance for IDR processing shouldn't affect anything either.
Where are you pulling your scores and reports from? I would guess there might be something else that you're missing but I can't say.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Re: Credit score drop after remarks removed

My Vantage score on Credit Karma dropped and this was the only notification! I have no missed payments, utilization under 17%, no new inquiries or credit cards, nothing! It was all yellow stating remarks removed and score was down 82 points on Credit Karma and 9 points down on FICO.

Re: Credit score drop after remarks removed

I think the only thing to worry about is your FICO, the score that lenders usually use, and that didn't drop much at all. If I were to take a guess it might be the forbearance and that it's not registering as being in repayment again. Or you interest could have capitalized since your re-certification would/ should have been turned in during June. I really can't say. It's not my area.
However if you're willing to post more details maybe someone else under the credit score board can give you more information.

Re: Credit score drop after remarks removed

+1 on what Sabii said.
I've had comments added and removed (and other minor, odd changes) to my student loans, and CK/other FAKO score sites always show the score jumping around.  I'm not going to say that Vantagescore is never used, but it rarely is, and while my VS scores hopped about, the FICOs were very steady and never showed those odd comments/changes.

If you're curious, you can go to Experian.com and do the $1 7 day trial (just "downgrading" your membership to the free version before the 10 days is up) and you can pull FICO8 from all three big CRAs.

oops!  Apologies - reading comprehension fail Smiley Happy

Sabii is right, though, remarks won't change your FICO score.    There must be some other change.
