Going to pharm school impact on current loans

Hi all. Can existing student loans be put into deferment if I want to return to school? I have loans from my undergraduate studies and planning to go to pharmacy school. Is deferment the best option to hold off payments? Can I still make payments on it? What is the best way to get this done? Thanks so much!

I can try to pay it off, but was looking into options to put loan payments on hold so I can begin to save money for school.

are they federal student loans?  then yes, you can put them into deferment.  & you can definitely make payments on them while you are in school.

i don't have any experience with private student loans, so i don't want to give you any bad advice.

Laz is correct regarding the federal student loans.  Private student loans are usually a little different.  They normally require that you start making payments on the loan after a certain amount of time has passed, whether or not you are still in school.  Most are 4-5 years, so check with your lender to see if they had that type of stipulation and/or clause when you obtained the loan.
