Hello,
I have two private student loans with Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC). I stopped paying it over a year ago, and they sent me a letter stating it would go to collections last year. The company they sent it to is called Reliant Capital Solutions. It's been hurting my credit score, and GSFC (not Reliant) has been reporting every month as a missed payment for both loans. I'm now in a better financial position and I'd like to resume payments on them.
I tried calling GSFC and asked them if they can recall the debt, and I'd pay them, but they said it's been sent to Reliant over 6 months ago and they won't accept any payments from me. I would have to go through a rehab program with Reliant.
Even though GSFC claims to have sent it to collection, on my credit report it doesn't say that, it just says missed payment reported by GSFC (over 120 days now).
The issue is that I've been trying to contact Reliant multiple times to access information about the debt, but they don't seem to have my information. GSFC doesn't have any info either besides that they sent my account to Reliant. I've also asked Reliant on a phone call to send me a debt validation letter, but I've never received it. Every time I call Reliant they end up transferring me to another department which supposedly would handle this, but the call ALWAYS ends up in voicemail. And even if I leave a voicemail, no one has called me back.
This has been going on for months, and I've been trying to fix this, but I can't get any help from Reliant nor GSFC.
What advice can be recommended here?
OmG I have the same issue except when I finally spoke with Reliant, they provided me with a completely different amount for monthly payment and stated that I would have to pay 1200 a month for 6 months to be removed from my credit. They aren't reporting to my credit, GSFA is and they are reporting that I owe $178 a month which I can definitely afford, yet when I spoke with Ga student finance they advised that I owe $571 a month. No one has been able to help so I'm hoping that you've found a solution to this.
