Just ran my credit and noticed that my student loan payments for Nelnet have not been updated in 9 months. I don't understand why they aren't reporting my payments but i want to know if their failure to report my ontime payments is cheating me out of much needed points for credit scoring. anyone know??
I would contact Nelnet and see what's up. While the odd missed payment report happens and may not be worth worrying about, 9 months seems like a pattern. Is other information on the loan, like the balance and last activity date, being updated? Do those months show "no data" or something else?
No updates at all since 3/24/13. its actually two seperate accounts and one was paid off in full six months ago and it isnt reflected on my report. do you think them updating will increase my scores?? I going to call them tomorrow.
it doesn't even say "no data" its just stopped after March 2013. I know the account was not sold because I'm still currently paying and its open.
Call and see what they say, they may ask you to send a copy of the report to them with the problem areas highlighted (and if they don't seem to be understanding, sending the report might help). I'd start with asking them to update the paid off loan to show when it was paid off and the correct balance of $0, nice and easy to understand and hopefully it will get all of your data updated in the process.
Getting the data to report may give a small boost to your scores, but I wouldn't expect a large jump. The accounts are probably already correctly figuring in your AAoA, and since there is no negative information reported, they aren't really dragging your score down.
Are you seeing the same issues on all three reports, or is it just one CRA not getting the data?
Thank you. I'll calI them tomorrow and I only ran the Transunion report but in the past they've all reported the same info.

My Transunion report has also not updated monthly since about that time. My other reports have continued to show the correct monthly payments. I have not gotten around to contacting Nelnet about it.
I have the same problem- nothing is showing up as being updated since March 2013. I just called Nelnet; according to a supervisor who took a look at it, they have been reporting to all 3 credit bureaus during that period. They told me the best thing to do would be to file a dispute with all of the credit reporting agencies; that would force them to contact Nelnet and update your information.
They gave me these numbers:
Eq 1-800-685-1111
Exp 1-800-520-1221
TU 1-800-888-4213
Thanks for sharing the contact info. When I called Nelnet the lady told me they were showing that they have been reporting monthly and said that there was nothing she could do and no one she could call about this and then suggested that maybe my credit report was outdated. I am going to try to fax them about it as I want to see if they will remove a late for me anyway. If that doesn't work then I will file a dispute but I'd rather avoid a dispute as it will lower my score and I don't want that frustration right now.
I found this here right after making my last post yesterday. Simple. ![]()
