SM decided to change my payment back in June of 2012, that would have been fine if they could send me letter, but with an apartment complex full of apartments and no number on the envelope, I never knew it. I am working with an advocate to get the 90's and 120's removed from my credit, I know its partially my fault for not double checking that the payments were coming out, but I setup auto payments just so I wouldnt have to, so why did they stop, because they either thought I jumped ship, or because they needed my verification. If only they would have called me. Hopefully the advocate can get these cleared off for me, I should be at a much better credit score after gardening for 3 yrs to let a repo and paid CO fall off, but because of this I am still at a 548. I think this ends my rant and I hope to be in much better standing after my cap1 aprroval yesterday for credit steps with no AF. Wish me luck, i think I need a unicorn and lepracaun to help me on the removal, even thought the advocate agreed with me.
Best of luck! Sallie Mae was one tough cookie for me personally when I had a 30 day late payment. They simply would not budge, and of course it resulted in 3 different TL lates on my report.
I had to wait it out because they wouldn't budge. I hope your "advocate" is not going to dispute with the CRA's because it sounds like it is correct. I would push for GW's instead it will probably be your best option.
I have succeeded with sallie mae, it is true there is no intimidation from the advocate, but no help either, unless you have proof that they are in the wrong there is nothing they can do for you. If sallie mae "is" in the wrong, and you want them to do the leg work in proving it, a well placed email to the CEO and several VP's get the advocates manager and the advocate working on actually investigating and contacting lenders. In my case when my loan was rehabbed it went from DCMS to sallie mae, DCMS had me on auto pay and up to date on payments, when it was rehabbed it went to sallie mae and thats where they lost my address and couldnt leave a voicemail to let me know who they were. DCMD's policy is that the new lender is required to notify the customer not the other way around as it is not my responsibility. Once DCMS told sallie mae that, it was all over for them. Got confirmation that the lates will be removed, they sent the request to the credit beareaus last night.
I'm gobsmacked.
Well good news, sallie removed the lates and I have it in writing. went from a 518-542 score to fako of 644-653 in just a month. Already starting to get pre-qualified offers, Only biting on 0% with no fee's if I can find 'em. Thanks for some helpful insight from the forums.
Wow congrats
