I am graduating in about 7 weeks, and I have 31k in loans (from Wachovia) all that are federal unsub and sub stafford loans. They are all with one bank, and I am not sure if consolidating would help.
I am not sure how they even calculate payments, and when I log in all it shows me is the loan, not payment schedules, or anything like that.
How can I tell if it's better to consolidate or not, I want to have as little a payment as possible to start with because I also want to be able to finance a car and not sure I can pay both at the same time.
This is my loan lineup -
Subsidized Stafford $14,500.00 $14,500.00
Unsubsidized Stafford $14,590.00 $15,593.06
Total: $29,090.00 $30,093.06
Wow, with those loans going "active" with payments, and your scores, auto financing is going to be tough unless you make quite a bit.
You probably need to contact Wachovia and ask about consolidating options and payment terms and begin working on a budget. You need to be able to not only afford the student loan pmts and potentially auto payments, but maintenance, insurance, gas, etc. And then you probably want to eat on occassion ![]()

my student loans are about that much, & my payments are currently $162.15 per month.
