Texas Guaranteed - Garnishment/Rehab question

I have been on administrative wage garnishment for the past 18 months with Texas Guaranteed // they are handling a loan that was consolidated and transferred from Sallie Mae.

I am also on my 8th of 9 months of the rehab program.  They have been garnishing about $1500/mo from my pay & I now worry ill be under the $1000 balance required to complete the rehab if they garnish me next month. (The balance would be $950)

Is there anything I can do? Suggestions?

Re: Texas Guaranteed - Garnishment/Rehab question

I had 16 defaulted loans taken over by an agency called ECMC.  They started doing AWG on me as well.

After setting up a rehabiliation agreement with them, I called and asked if they would stop the AWG, and they did.  It took a month, but it did stop.

Not sure if that's something that all guarnators have to do, though, or if ECMC is just nice.

I'd say it can't hurt to contact Texas Guarnateed, and ask them to fax over a message to your payroll department telling them to stop the AWG.  Good luck.

Re: Texas Guaranteed - Garnishment/Rehab question

Good luck, blauthsp.

It seems terribly wrong that they're doing AWG while you're making rehab payments.

If they don't stop it, you could also try contacting the federal ombudsman to see if there's anything they can do.  Even if the ombudsman says no, it doesn't hurt to at least put the situation in front of them.

(When I had a problem with a guarantor, I contacted the omubdusman by the link listed above, and they called me within 2 days)

Re: Texas Guaranteed - Garnishment/Rehab question

Outstanding. I'll call texas guaranteed tomorrow if I don't have some type of resolution I'll reach out to the ombudsman.

Thanks for the tip!

Re: Texas Guaranteed - Garnishment/Rehab question

Update: I spoke to a nice gentleman in the rehab depth and he let me know on Monday my rehab will be completed and will try to get my loan sold before garnishment hits on 01-28-14 .... I guess time will tell on this one...
