consolidating student loans

I am currently thinking of consolidating some of my student loans. Loans I have already started paying (the smaller ones), I am not planning on conslidating. I'm looking at the direct conslidation loan application and its giving me the option of picking the servicer or keep my current one if its on the list. Right now, my servicer is Sallie Mae, so its on the list. Personally, I haven't had any issue with Sallie Mae but I have heard horror stories. The other servicers on the list are Fedloan, Great Lakes Educational Services and Netlet.  Does anyone have any opionion on these servicers?

Re: consolidating student loans

We don't have any consolidated loans, but we have loans with Sallie Mae, FedLoan, & Great Lakes, & we haven't had any problems really with any of them.

I think it's like anything else; once you get into trouble, THEN you start to have problems.  For now, it's just fine.

My sister has loans with Nelnet & I think with AES, & she hasn't complained about them, either.

Re: consolidating student loans

My student loan is with Great Lakes. They're great. I m on auto pay and they withdraw the money from my checking account every 15th of the month. I havent' had any complaints so far. They have a good website, easy to utlize and decent app as well. I actually consolidated my loans with them 2 years ago but I had another student loan with them before that, which I paid off a year ago. Again, no complaints. Like Laz98 said, it's when you stop paying that you start having issues. Hope that helps.
