Does it hurt it because you are not paying it or does it not effect it at all?
it doesn't affect you at all. they just show up as paid as agreed. or at least mine do.

laz98 is correct in that, WHILE deferred, they show "paying as agreed" or in my case, "deferred" but either way, they are "in good status" right now.
However, you MUST remember when they come off deferment...sometimes that is tricky to determine and if you don't pay, your status will quickly go south. For example, I thought my first payment was March 1st but really, they went to the DAY and it was due like 10 days before that...luckily I caught it, but I still had to pay extra in interest than expected (I was paying the loan in full at that point).
Also, I'm not positive, but make sure the status is deferred and not "in forbearance" or something like that, as the status could change your report being "good".
