I filed for bankruptcy over 10 years ago. I still have student loans on my credit report as showing "included in bankruptcy".
These were never included because I couldn't file against those. Also, I have been paying them off ever since(almost paid off).
These are showing as a negative toward my FICA score. Can I get these removed, if yes, how would I go about doing this. I don't think
it is fair for them to claim these were in bankructpy when they never were.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
Sorry to bump up an old thread and not have an answer for it, but actually I have a similar problem to this.
My bankruptcy discharged in 2006, but I never stopped paying my student loans. I paid them off in 2008 and they are showing as "included in bankruptcy" under 2 of the CRAs. I have the letter and everything saying they're paid. I have disputed this twice and they keep saying it is correct. Is this a standard thing or is it actually an error and is it hurting my credit score?
Any help on this is appreciated as I can't seem to find any help with this issue.
Fantastic forum btw. I wish I had found it a few years back.
I am having the same issue. I went ahead and filed a discrepancy with the bureaus. Its still not fixed. ![]()
Call the agency holding the loan and call the bureau.
I agree with Mattie... Just call the company that holds the loan (and the one that you paid the money too). Ask them to correct it as it shows as IIB on your report.
If you do not get a response, ask to speak with a supervisor. I would advise them that they are reporting incorrectly to the CRAs about your account and are required by law to fix it. OR if they say that the IIB is correct, then I would advise them to send that to you in writing because if this debt was truly included in bankruptcy then they went against a court order accepting payment for the loan. I guarantee that a letter advising of the above will get someone reviewing your file ASAP in order to get it corrected.
