1-point boost, 2-point drop; I did nothing

Received a score change alert today.  TU went from 798 to 799.

The only reason that I can think of is that the 2 INQs from our refi were last July, so they're now 6+ months old.

Reasonable?

Re: a 1 point boost - 6-month INQ threshold?

This is just the credit gods mocking you since you're knockin on the 800 door...Robot Very Happy In all honesty I think the 6 month mark is a threshold for inquiries but I would wait for an educated response.

Re: a 1 point boost - 6-month INQ threshold?

I couple of experienced members here like Rev have stated many times in the past that the impact of inquiries over time does not lessen, meaning that they impact X number of points on Day 1 and then at 1 year stop impacting X number of points all at once.

Then, undoubtedly, it's simply that the credit gods are mocking me.

Re: a 1 point boost - 6-month INQ threshold?

What else could a 1 point increase be attributed to, other than an inquiry???

It could be aging of anything else other than an inquiry.

Most of the increases for aging I've seen folks get have yielded more than 1 point. Most of my aging increases have been like 4 or 8 points. I did lose 1 point for an inquiry.

I just had an inquiry go over 1 year on January 26. January 27 I gained exactly one point... lol. For me it’s pretty standard to gain a point or two at 3 months, 6 months, and one year. I usually lose around 5 or 6 points on my first inquiry. Maybe around four for a second, and I’ve never had more than two Inquirys in a year so no clue for a third and on. So going by my profile happenings that inquiry over a threshold seems about right.

Re: a 1 point boost - 6-month INQ threshold?

I'd also add that a 1 point (or even 2-3 point) fluctuation is pretty common on this forum for seemingly nothing changing on a profile.  I experienced that more on my dirty file, which now that it's clean doesn't seem to be as much of a problem.

I remember back when I was dirty by TU score would bounce between 763-764-763-762 all the time for nearly 10 months.  No rhyme or reason, as nothing was changing on my profile outside of just natural aging of everything.
