50+ Point jump to ~800 from one late aging off!

Just wanted to share, I’ve been waiting for 7 long years for one late payment to age off and see what happened to my score when it did. My result came this week!

I had one 120 day late showing from Cap One they would not take off no matter what I tried. Was my only baddie. My scores have been 730-740 for the last three years or so now depending and there it was stuck. Two weeks ago I was at 738 FICO8 with Experian, the late aged off this week and I jumped to 794! Wow!

I knew it was a major score impact being that late major 120 day late, never dreamed it was 50 whole points though. Regardless I’m back to perfect now history wise. Average age of accounts is less than 4.5 years, oldest is just shy of 12 years. Have a dozen cards roughly currently.

Man, what a journey. Joined here to improve my scores and fix my credit roughly 7 years ago. It worked. Thanks guys.

Sweet.  A lone major baddie falling off can impact scores 60-80 points often, so I'd say that 50 points was a bit on the light end honestly.  50 points is a bit closer to what is expected when an aged minor falls off, which tends to average around 40 points.  Congrats on going clean... it's a great feeling!

I love this!  Someone posting about their results from the full 7 year span is really cool to read.  It may have been slow(lane) but eventually, everyone can get there.  Congrats, OP!

Thank you for posting. I'm also waiting for a delinquency to age off (next year) with scores hovering in the 730s, and am anticipating the score increase. Good to have more DPs.
