800 Club!

After 20 years of ever increasing credit card debt, which peaked at one point to the tune of about $45,000, and a two year concerted effort to throw every available dime into paying them off, it finally ended. All cards paid in full and just got my EQ Score Alert, 804! Where's the lounge and my robe and glass of Cognac?

Through all of my mistakes I've made with credit over the years I can look at the person I've been over the last couple and the good cancels the bad. I'm a changed person and I will never go back to the "Spend first, ask questions later" world I lived for so long. The world is NOW my oyster! :-)

Re: 800 Club!

Congrats!  Same thing here, and many opportunities to get out too.  I had about $10k in CC debt when I graduated college which just snowballed.  Never been late on a payment though, so the credit was always good, just a bit high.  I bought a house before the huge boom up, then sold it for a huge profit (only to use the money to pay off CC debt).  Then I sold it and bought an older house nearly 100% financing, dumped CC money into it to fix it up, then got an inheritance and was able to pay a lot of stuff off and get back down to 0.  Then I had some medical bills, boom, back up again, then the house market bust and I had to take money to the closing table to sell my house, CC shot back up again.

Well, I was sick of it an I have successfully paid down (including selling a lot of stuff on e-bay, selling all my jewelry) a $11,000 credit card bill, last October to $1500 today.

Credit score shot up 100 points since then.
