800 score

I have a Citi card that provides a Fico score. I have not checked it in a while but I just logged in to see what it was. It is 802 from Equifax (I can't upload a screenshot for some reason).

This is the first time in my life I have reached an 800 score. I just have 4 credit cards and I rent my place. My question is, is this one of those situations where I "keep doing what you're doing." I suppose from this point forward it's a slow climb? Also, on the score meter it says 900 is the max, I thought 850 was max? did this change?

I have this community to thank for this achievement, if it's the real deal I am literally jumping out of my seat.

Thank you

Re: 800 score

Congratulations on your 800.

Citi reports your Fico 8 Bankcard score which has a range of 250 to 900. A Bankcard score above 800 is quite good. I suspect your Fico 8 classic score is not far behind (AMEX and Discover Card report Fico 8 classic [score range 300 to 850]

Generally your scores are best if you only report a balance on one card and maintain aggregate utilization (total balance/total credit line) below 9%. You can let balance on an individual card report higher, say up to 30% as long as aggregate UT% is maintained low.

See link below for score ranges associated with various Fico models and credit bureaus.

Re: 800 score

Congratulations on your score!

To give you a rough idea how the regular FICO 8 and FICO 8 Bankcard scores compare, mine differ by 11 points, with the Bankcard variety being higher. So as Thomas_Thumb said, it is likely your FICO 8 is only a little behind number-wise compared to the score CITI provided.

Re: 800 score

800 also have a weak 800 and strong 800... I know someone with a 753 and can't even get a car loan.. They were given the reason cuz they only have credit card and haven't have any installment loan

Re: 800 score

Might be too much new/recent credit or debt to income (DTI) ratio was considered too high for the loan amount.

DTI is not a credit scoring factor - credit scoring models are not allowed to consider income ... However lenders do look at ability to pay via DTI metrics.
