So excited. Just got an updated Barclay Fico Score. My previous score (2/15) was 698. I am now at 787!!! I can't believe it!
I consolidated a bunch of credit card debt a couple of months ago. I had about a half a dozen cards I was carrying high balances on. I was making extra payments, but didn't really feel like I was getting very far. My husband and I took out an unsecured personal loan at our credit union and paid off the 16K in credit cards with a 4 year fixed rate 9.49%.I am going to try to pay this off sooner, however it is nice to know there is a FIRM plan, and an "end date". My cards are now "resting", and I plan to rotate them out now and then to keep them active, but to only charge one at a time (per month) and then pay in full. Still keeping my utilization in the 3-5% range.
I expected to see a jump in the score, but was really surprised at how much! Yahoo!!!!
Great news. That is quite the jump! I'm expecting a reasonable jump once my scores update from last month. Got a few new cards and paid down a considerable amount. Had close to 70% util last month, and it should be under 30% after everything updates for April. Will probably hold off checking scores again until June, as I should be able to get the util below 10% by that point.
That's outstanding! Congrats.
I currently have the old Juniper card from Barclays. Great 7.9 rate, 5K credit limit, but $79 annual fee. UGH! I am reluctant to close it, but I have heard that Barclay's is NOT great with PCs. I have a few months until the annual fee is due again to make a decision.
This score is extra special to me, as we have made a large credit score recovery after filing a Chapt 13 in 2005 (my husband's business failed, and we were hit hard). We did a 5 year pay plan. Discharged in 2010. Juniper was the first card after our BK, and helped with rebuilding for sure. Wondering after this increase in score if I will get a CLI from them, or maybe an offer for a no annual fee card? I think I have read that while they don't generally do PCs, a new card with them might be possible, and then maybe they would consolidate them both to one?? Anyone know?
I really don't want any hard pulls. I had a ton of them at one time......and am trying to "garden" until they start dropping off..........
