91% decrease in credit card balance

Being that I am trying to increase my scores after paying my credit card down to result in a $22 balance this is the alert I recieved this morning:

Your FIRST PREMIER account balance has decreased by $224 from $246 to $22

I thought an alert for a score increase would filter through.  Thus far this has not happened.  How long does it tyically take to see the increase in score?

Starting Score: 06/2011 505 EX 523 Lender Pulled
Current Score: 08/2011 628 EX 575 Lender Pulled
11/14/2011 TU 584

Goal Score: 700

Hi Mia - Long time no see!

So let me understand this.  You got the alert today from SW that your balance changed?  But the score stayed the same?

Re: 91% decrease in credit card balance

MissMia,

The only thing I can think of is that your Scorewatch settings might be set to only alert you to a score change if it goes above "x". Like, say your credit score is "700", you can change your settings to alert you if your score reaches "701". Maybe it was only alerting you to the balance change and not a score change because your settings aren't updated to do so? Go check your settings and make sure that your alerts are set to notify you if your score changes by 1 point.  That's how mine are set. I learned the hard way that I won't get any score change alerts unless my settings are set to alert me if my score increases by 1 point over what I currently have.

Two questions:

1) What was your tradeline utilization, before and after

2) What was your overall utilization, before and after

If there wasn't a big change in #2, that's probably why you didn't see a score change.

Re: 91% decrease in credit card balance

I've noticed that with mine the alerts come a day lot quite often.  Your score will update today but the alert doesn't come until tomorrow.  I just paid off a bunch of cards so I checked my score everyday and noticed this happening quite often.  That may have been what happened if you check your score often.
