Called Equifax and was told they can not remove the dispute. What now? Thanks in advance for your help!

Call Equifax back again  Try calling 1/888/846/5279. You can  ask for the "Special Handling Department"  You might not get it removed today but you should get the process started.  Use the search box above and search "Removing Disputes".
