Re: AMEX Closed my account after 13 months

Hmmm, so this was due to an issue with a payment that didn't clear ??   Did you send AMEX an electronic payment or mail them a check ?

Re: AMEX Closed my account after 13 months

Electronic payment. I just got off the phone with AMEX. She said that may have been part of the issue, but most likely what triggered it. On 11/19 they did a soft pull revealing the collection and high utilization, my FICO Experian was 582 Smiley Sad . She told me to review my Experian report, wait for the new payment to clear. Then to give them a call back and fax the letter I have from the Collection Agency stating it was invalid. I am eligible for my AF and Points if the card can't be re-instated.

So I am going to take a break with AMEX. I know the collection has dropped off. Make sure AMEX reports a 0 and pay off a card or two. Call them back by 02/01/12 if my account has not been re-instated by then.

Probably a good idea ~ AMEX can be very touchy about returned payments, I know from personal experience unfortunately...Smiley Frustrated

Also they like to keep a very close eye on your CRs, seems like they soft me at least monthly..

Re: AMEX Closed my account after 13 months

Either way I am closing down my BofA Checking and Savings. They refuse to remove the $35 return check fee and no explanation on why a $750 hold was placed on a $950 check. Oddly my payment to AMEX was exactly $750. To me I think it would be fair to waive the fee and offer to reimburse me for any fees occurred with AMEX.

Luckily the new job offers direct deposit, so the need for a local bank is no longer needed. Personal checks can wait 1-2 weeks when I go to Orlando.
