ANNUAL FREE CREDIT REPORTS ADVICE

Hi,

My year is almost up and I am getting ready to pull my free reports. I am posting a FAQ question and answer from annualcreditreport.com below.  My question is what does this forum recommend? Pulling all three at the same time or spacing them out?

Thank you,

RozBuds

Should I order all my credit reports at one time or space them out over 12 months?

You are entitled to receive one free credit report every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies through the Central Source. It is entirely your choice whether you order all three credit reports at the same time or order one now and others later. The advantage of ordering all three at the same time is that you can compare them. (However, you will not be eligible for another free credit report from the Central Source for 12 months.) On the other hand, the advantage of ordering one now and others later (for example, one credit report every four months) is that you can keep track of any changes or new information that may appear on your credit report. Remember, you are entitled to receive one free credit report through the Central Source every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies – Equifax, Experian and TransUnion – so if you order from only one company today you can still order from the other two companies at a later date.

Re: ANNUAL FREE CREDIT REPORTS ADVICE

There isn't any specific advice that these forums advocate with respect to the free credit reports.  You'll get the opinions of individuals.

For me, I've been pulling one free report every 4 months.  It's kinda sorta like a credit monitoring approach, although the information contained at each bureau is not exactly the same.

Re: ANNUAL FREE CREDIT REPORTS ADVICE

i tend to get mine all at once, usually after i think there have been some "major" changes (relative to me, of course).

but i also buy fico scores/reports regularly, so this may not work for you.

Re: ANNUAL FREE CREDIT REPORTS ADVICE

I obtain my monthly "free" full CBR's through other means and save my reports from annualcreditreport.com for true emergencies when I might need something fast and am otherwise blocked off by the CRB's.

I order all 3 reports at the same time.  I receive numerous free reports throughout the year.  If you know how to work the system for free reports you can pull all three at once.

Re: ANNUAL FREE CREDIT REPORTS ADVICE

Hi Di,

What are some of the tricks of the trade or working the system for pulling all three reports for free after the annual freebie has been used?

Thank you,

RozBuds

Re: ANNUAL FREE CREDIT REPORTS ADVICE

Keep up with your confirmation number(EQ) file number (TU) and report number(EX) for future access to your reports.  They all expire after 90 days, but you can still get more free reports.
