AU balance and FICO Drop

I have an AU Chase account on my report form a close friend that she lets me control completely. I paid the balance from $5 to $0 and lost 3 points on my score. I'm at AZEO without this card  reporting a balance, is there a penalty for 0 balance on AU cards?

Re: AU balance and FICO Drop

There are DP showing AU cards have their own All Zero reporting penalty. Also, Chase is its own unique beast. It automatically reports a 0 balance, unlike other lenders that report when statement closes.

Seems a bit absurd, but it is what it is I suppose. I guess I'll let it report $5 next month and see if I get my 3 points back.

That doesn’t sound like enough points it’s probably from something else.

Literally nothing else has changed in 2 months,  unless it's just some kind of an aging thing 🤷🏻‍♂️

Re: AU balance and FICO Drop

Which bureau had the 3 point drop?

My EX8 drops 14-15 points when my AU account reports $0.  However, TU8 only seems to drop 3 points in the same circumstance.  EQ8 doesn't move at all.  Disclaimer, I don't get very many TU and especially EQ scores in a month so my scores may be fluctuating due to other changes.  My profile doesn't have much change, though... so perhaps my experience accurately reflects the AU AZ penalty.

It was my TU8 as well that lost the 3 points.

Re: AU balance and FICO Drop

Maybe TransUnion has lesser penalties for that then we will have to start paying attention, wonder if it’s scorecard dependent?
