I would try upping your usage a bit and see if that helps or even swapping which one you are reporting to see if it does have an effect

Yeah, I can do that. Though it will be a while before I see the effects; Citi doesn't report until mid-month. It's definitely weird. I've always read you can have a very small amount on your balance to achieve AZEO. The $130/$4000 would certainly qualify. At this time, I'm more concerned/interested in why I didn't get a bump on FICO2 for AZEO than in any drop on FICO8.
Let us know for sure how it winds up, this is great for DP

It is very strange. I get a bump on mortgage scores but not FICO 8 when I'm AZEO - others get a bump on both. Each profile is different but i'd think at least a few points on FICO2 would be gained. If you have time before your mortgage app to do some testing, then try a higher balance on one card- maybe 5%-8%, or try using an entirely different card as your zero and see if that makes a difference.
Wonder if your FICO 4 & 5 mortgage scores responded the same (ie. No movement).
It's also possible your mtg scores were already optimized with 2 cards with very low balances. That would have you at 2/9 cards with balances (22%) when optimal is less than 1/3.

@Anonymous No. First what is the CL of the CITI? 4000?
2d, Is the citi in any kind of dispute?
How many cards do you have? Its all about thresholds.

Birdman,
Oldest account is 9+ years. It is a perfectly clean AU account.
Youngest card is 3 months. Average age is 2+ years.
Clean, no baddies.
Is it possible that since both balances were so low (both under 1%), AZEO is no different to FICO2 than two tiny balances with nine accounts (i.e., 22% of cards with balances, which is better than 33%, or one out of three that I see on these forums so often)? Not sure what else would explain no movement on FICO2 when I went AZEO. I'm guessing FICO8 isn't rounding up to 1% on the Citi card, which I why I got the 15 point penalty. These are just guesses; most people here know a lot more about this than I do.

This is an interesting change! What is the balance on the AU Account?
What are the values for all three ages on the report? AoOA, AAoA, and AoYA? Sometimes people lose points when switching scorecards.
@Anonymous wrote:I checked my Experian mortgage score; it didn't move at all. So...
9 cards ($41,400 limit)
2 with balances ($95/$16700 and $130/$4000)
Experian FICO8: 740
Experian FICO2: 734
Paid off the Chase ($95 balance; $0 was reported to CRAs; everything else the same)
Experian FICO08: 725
Experian FICO2: 734
Maybe FICO8 rounds down when utilization is so low, but FICO2 doesn't? But then why didn't I get a bump for going AZEO on FICO2?
Is the remaining card with a balance an AU card by chance?
Older Fico models always count AU cards but, Fico 8 may not even if it shows in a utilization summary. Note: The "no recent revolving account activity" penalty is NOT a utilization metric. I had this penalty on Fico 8 while reporting balances on an AU card and an AMEX charge card.
Side notes:
Mortgage scores (from what I read) are set to update only monthly if you are using a Fico service. So, a no change could also relate to mortgage score not being re-calculated even though Fico 8 score changed. Also,
EQ Fico score 5 is based on Fico 04 scoring model.
TU Fico score 4 is based on Fico 04 scoring model.
EX Fico score 3 is based on Fico 04 scoring model
EX Fico score 2 is based on Fico 98 scoring model
Fico 04 and Fico 98 scoring models always include AU cards. Fico 98 looks at charge card utilization (B/HB) but, Fico 04 does not.
