Hi all. I was looking at my latest report and noticed my student loan is going to age to 20 years soon (opened April 2004). My next oldest account is an old CapOne card I opened in Feb 2011 when I began my rebuild journey. AoYA is 1 month (opened in Jan 2024) and AAoA is around the 9 year mark.
I seem to recall several years ago reading about the 20 year mark for oldest account possibly causing some rebucketing but my memory is hazy on the details and that was before FICO 9 and 10 were around. Are there any data points or knowledge that anyone may have as to whether hitting AooA of 20 years may have on credit? My credit is perfectly fine, this is more out of curiosity than anything else.
Thanks!
@atarvuzdar, my gut tells me hitting the 20-year mark won't move the scoring needle even a single point.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

I stopped trying to figure out Fico scoring a few years ago.
Have similar scores as you, and realize that it is almost impossible
to isolate one factor from all the constantly changing data factors.
Fico gain/loss also varies a lot between profiles.
When that card hits 20 years, your average age will be better, so will
age of your youngest, and average.
When your scores goes up/down is it really the oldest?
Age related score changes are the most difficult and least accurate.
Only short term for sure changes I have personally witnessed are from
utilization, credit mix, and getting new cards/loans.
I have two card's with 30+ years, average 11+, youngest 2
Similar scores.
Change will be small if any.
No scorecard change and no score change. The only account aging that will improve score is increasing AoYA to 12 months. Might see a trivial benefit along the way (at 3 or 6 months). Once my AoYA reached 5 years I stopped seeing the negative reason statement - you have an account opened recently.
Me: AoOA 40yrs, AAoA 22 years, AoYA 11.5 years.

I'm pretty sure that you're already on the best scorecard for AoOA, so it won't matter.
