I am an AU on my wife's AMEX. As this card has NPSL, would my FICO be affected if I were removed?
It depends on age of account and if you have other revoking accounts and credit cards. If you're established with atleast 2-3 years you will no big issues other than losing a few points.
There isn't anything special about NPSL. It just means it isn't being factored into your utilization. If the card normally reports a balance, it could help to have it removed to reduce the number of cards with a balance (a negative factor). It could also help your DTI (not factored into FICO). Overall, it will probably make very little difference to your FICO score unless it reports as an old account. Removing an old account can hurt your AAoA and AoA.
Note: just removing the AU relationship may or may not remove it from your credit report. If it doesn't get removed from your report, then there will be next to no immediate effects.
Fico 08 does not consider AU card balances in aggregate utilization calculation nor in # of open accounts reporting a balance. Given the card is a NPSL charge card you are not getting any benefit toward aggregate CL. Basically, the account is invisible with regards to influencing Fico 08 score - so Fico 08 (and Fico 09) scores should not be affected.
That being said, the mortgage Fico models do look at AU cards. In this case the card will count toward # open accounts with balances (more cards reporting balances may drop score so removing AU status actually has some upside in this case.
Ultimately, unless the card is your oldest bya wide margin and really boosts your AAoA, not much benefit in maintaining AU status [assuming you have at least one open and active account in your name]
