I see cosign and a loan/gift of money more as the guy who is spotting you in the gym. You are still doing all the work. They cosigner still makes you do all the work.
Also a cosigner once they do it, cannot change or be revoked.
Anyway this all may be a mute point when FICO08 comes around.

Yeah, but the spotter can leave at any time, so he is more of an AU. You are right though, once FICO '08 hits, it's history, but not for the reasons stated here, but because of perfect strangers buying credit history. That's unethical and plain wrong.

RobbySaprano, by that logic, then anyone who cleans their reports by way of GW, DV and the like are also skewing the numbers.

I am suprised that we havent seen a Prosper like web site for AU.  They only I would say is that if I was an AU on someones card right now, I would try to get off as soon as possible, ven with the score hit.  FICO scores have a habbit of going down when you least want them to so I would rather choose when that happens.

I elect not to paticipate in the GW/PFD process however since the CCCs/CAs grant them I would say that they are undermining their own process.  They are the customers of FICO and CRA's really.

Such sites do exist, which is precisely the reason AU scoring benefits will be going away.

Yeah Marty, that's what I was talking about in the last line of the previous post. Those idiots have ruined it for everyone who wasn't doing anything illegal.

LOL Byrd, and touche!
Yup, your logic defeats mine, at least in the pure captitalist sense!
And I am not a socialist, so I will end my diatribes over the body of this dead horse!

That's a good point. Where do you draw the line? Is it any different if someone is able to remove negatives from their reports early? I would think being able to remove lates BK's and the like would have more of an effect on scoring than the use of AU lines. Why not have everything stay on the reports the prescribed amount of time and go from there?

Smallfry, you are absolutely correct. If you want to see skewed scoring, that's the area to look for it.

Re: Authorized Users

I would also agree with that.  If a derog was legitimate, it should not be removed from ones CR.  In fact I have had BOA tell me that directly in response to a GW letter, stating that they consider it to be improper and possibly even illegal for them to remove a legit derog.
The FCRA only mandates removal of a disputed item "which is found to be inaccurate or whose accuracy can no longer be verified." Removal for other purposes is not justified.
Gaming is gaming.
