I need a few points on one of my reports and was curious if I was added as an authorized user to a couple of my husbands credit cards would it have a positive or negative impact on scores. It would definitely improve my utilization but it may also reduce my AAOA. We are applying for mortgage and need about 9 points.

I know that this isn't what you want to hear but it's impossible to know for sure. A lot depends on your existing credit file. If you have a lot of accounts and reporting already on your files then the effect of being added as an AU will be minimal if any. If you have a thin credit file, how much utilization will it add and how will it change your AAoA? Just far too many variables to give you any kind of an accurate answer. If utilization is an issue on your credit reports you'll be far better to pay that down. Utilization is one of the bigger factors in your scores and your mortgage company will want to see that as low as possible regardless of being an AU or not.
