Wow! 9 measly dollars CRUSHED my score. Back story is I'm an AZEO maxi, but the card I carry my little balance on expired in Feb without me receiving the relpacement card due to an Apt # missing from the new card's mailing envelope (new card sent back to bank). There I was with a statement date on the end of the month coming with all of my cards showing AZATT (All Zeros All The Time) and no way to charge anything on my zero-balance card to post a small balance on the closest coming end of Feb statement date.
The next nearest card's statement date dropping was on the 3rd of March. There I was, Mar 1st, with AZATT for 3 whole days:
Soooo, I rush to make sure the next closest statement date's card would show my famous $9 balance to bring me back to AZEO.
Don't judge me.
*Side note*
The EX larger +44 jump may include the fact that 4 HP's fell off during this short period.
~Cheers
No judgement! Congratulations on your score increase! 😁
Glad your back. Higher scores take higher hits. That was a ding and a half. Hope you got your new card.

Congrats on your score recovery.
What happens to your score if you have two cards with a balance?
It only works if your cards are All Zero Except One, and it must be a tiny balance. Multiple balances will render the effect moot.

That is crazy how not having that $9 charge caused your score to drop that much! I hope to get to AZEO, someday. I'm down from 45% cc utilization to 20%, so it's getting there :-)

Actually, no. Nearly all the benefit from AZEO is from the low utilization. Adding another card, also with low utilization, may ding a few points, but blind devotion to AZEO as opposed to AZE2 is a lot of work, with the likelihood of an occasional stumble where the cardholder goes AZ. Ouch.
In order to avoid that "mistake ding", a cardholder with two small balances reported stumbles into one card reporting from time to time, which isn't as nerve-wracking as the OP situation here.
As others have said, it all depends on the file characteristics. I've gone from AZEO to AZE5 in 5 months as an experiment and have not had my score drop a single point. My overall utilization has stayed under 5%.
Ouch they hit you big showing no balance. I slightly overpaid my AMEX this month (not all charges finished posting prior to closing day) and I was upset to see my AZEO drop on EX takes me from 770 down to 754.
Bad timing, I've been planning to request a CLI tomorrow for the last several months. Anyone know which CRA AMEX SPs from?
