So my score dropped 12 points thanks to a balance transfer.
Here's my theories:
A) I noticed that a new balance IN ADDITION to the old card balances were being reported. So on my CR it just looked like I racked up new debt.
B) My average account age went from 1.5 years to 0.7 years.
C) Inquiry (this is a new card that I got in October)
What do I do?? I'm assuming my score will increase once the old balances go to zero, right? I was kind of thinking about getting a secured card to increase my available credit. Will that help? My credit is good. But went from 685 to 673 ![]()
Wells Fargo's secured card is tempting as their APR and annual fee are one of the lowest, and the process seems simple. Does anyone have this card and recommend it?

Your score has changed for a few reasons. The new account, possibly new INQ, the balance transfer to one CC changed the individual UTIL on that card. While you have not said how much the balance is and really doesn't matter, IMO I would pay down the debt you owe to return to your past scores and possibly increase your past scores, instead of putting money into a secured card. I never see a reason to attempt to put myself in more debt if I can not pay the debt I owe.
