I’m going to go with extremes here, but let’s say you are running at 100% utilization ($5k out of $5k) on your own credit. You are also an authorized user for someone in the exact same situation, so it shows on your credit as well. Is it better to be an authorized user where it shows $10k out of $10k or have them drop you and be $5k out of $5k? I am looking to get that answered in terms of your overall credit situation and also in credit score specifically. Thanks!
Hi and welcome to the forums
You're already getting penalty for maxed out card, and there might be additional points lost for second maxed out card, even if you're just AU.
Depending on other lenders you may have, it could potentially make things worse in terms of AA with two maxed cards.
If one of the cards gets paid off, but second one is still maxed, scoring penalty is still there. The only way out of this is to remove yourself and pay down your own card if you're looking for scoring improvement.
I would only want to be an AU on someone’s card that has less than 29% util at most
Note - i am not an AU on anyone’s card
i have made a couple of people AU on 2 or 3 cards that are minimally used and have higher CL
the point of an being an AU is to help you. Not harm you
