Chase Slate FICO or Discover FICO?

I currently have both a Slate card and a Discover card. Discover was updated as of the 14th of April and shows about a 19 point difference. Slate updated on the 2nd. I doubt there would be a 19 point difference in 12 days.

Anyways. I have the option of rolling my Slate into a Freedom but I would be losing my free Fico with them. I know Discover uses FICO 08 but I can't find what Chase uses. Is it worth keeping the Slate for the FICO or is the Discover one just as adequate?

Thanks!

Re: Chase Slate FICO or Discover FICO?

I just looked this up earlier today.

Discover gives you a TU08, Chase Slate gives you EX08. Both are FICO 08 scores, just different CB.

HTH.

That's good info and it definitely does help. I can't think of any site that I get an accurate EX FICO from. I know credit.com gives you Experian but I don't know how accurate it is. It might be worth keeping it as a Slate card for the FICO alone.

Credit.com does not provide a FICO score. Though they do use EX, they provide VantageScore 3.0  and Experian National Equivalency Score, making them no different from CK or CS (all are FAKOs).

Re: Chase Slate FICO or Discover FICO?

Oh wow. All this time I thought the CK Equifax and TU were somewhat legit. That's good to know! Thanks.

Given my Slate only has a $400 limit and I never really use it anyways, I think I will just keep it to know my EX FICO then and once I get back into the high 600s - 700s I'll just apply for a Freedom card if I really want one for the sign up bonus.

Thanks for the awesome info! It was really helpful.

Re: Chase Slate FICO or Discover FICO?

I have both both cards and ficos from them, and one is Ex and other Trans as noted above. I do see fluctuations based on thst alone, but also because one updates right before my statements cut, and the other one after they've cut.

It's not that they're not legit; they're just different.

You should toss them a small purchase from time to time so they don't close it for inactivity.
