I was under the impression that true FICO scores only go up to 850, but when I check my score on Citi, its scale goes up to 900. It *says* it's a FICO score. So what's up with that?
I don't have an exact match, but the score Citi provides is very close to my EQ FICO 9 scores and those are out of 900. I'll be following to see for sure, but the FAQs do indicate it's Equifax that they're using, and it's sure not FICO 8.
Industry specific score such as Fico 8 Bankcard have different range just like different scoring models have different ranges
If you scroll down to the bottom of the page FAQ section, one of the answer will tell you that it is Equifax FICO Bankcard Score 8 model and is the same score Citi use.

Interesting... As noted, I *thought* all FICO scores used a scale ending at 850; I thought it was those 'outlier' scores that could go up to 900. I even remember reading articles saying that ranges used to vary, but today, if you're seeing a real FICO score, it ends at 850.
FWIW, my scores as shown on Citi are generally within a few points of other sites' FICO scores, so at least it's pretty accurate as far as the number goes. But since its range goes up to 900, the number doesn't represent the same thing, you know? 818 out of 900 isn't as good as 818 out of 850.

Right, but as noted, I thought ALL real FICO scores used an 850 scale, hence my confusion!
FICO Classic 8, Classic 9, Classic 5,4,2, and 3 are 300-850.
FICO Bankcard 8, Bankcard 9, and Bankcard 5,4,2 are 250-900.
FICO Auto 8, Auto 9, and Auto 5,4,2 are 250-900.
Those are all "real" FICO scores.

Thanks for that! It's very helpful.
I'd gotten the impression that, along the way, credit-related people had agreed upon standard scales, ending at 850. Now I know better. Thanks!
How do I turn off this feature in my Citi account?
