Credit Card Account Age - Date Opened vs. Date Reported

Which date is used for determining a revolving credit card account's age?

I have read it is date opened; does this mean I can open a card, wait ten years, use it one month, pay it off, and then it appears to the CRAs that I have been actively using and paying on time for ten years?

Age of account is determined by when you opened it. Most creditors, though, will close your account after several months with no activity.

Date Opened. Date Reported is just the last time the info was updated by the lender.

FICO birthdays are done by month anyway, not the individual day the account was first reported as open. Inquiries come off 2 years to the day.
